On December 6, 2008, approximately 300 students, parents, and community members attended the Phoenix Academy Film Festival and Community Service Expo.
At the Film Festival and Community Service Expo, students showed their public service announcement (PSA). The PSAs were 3-5 minutes in length, described their issue using relevant and powerful images, clearly communicated their issue and included a call to action so that viewers could contact a community service agency to get more information.
Students in grades 9-11 were also required to attend the Expo and document their attendance as part of completing the Socially Responsible Citizen portion of their Graduation Portfolio. Students watched the public service announcements developed by their peers, talked with representatives from different service agencies, and asked questions of both.
